According to this year's national ranking of higher education institutions, the Albert Szent-Györgyi Medical School is the best faculty at the University of Szeged.

Stem cells implanted near spinal cord injuries spring into action to produce anti-inflammatory proteins – a function they do not display when isolated. This remarkable form of adaptation is what guided Prof. Dr. Antal Nógrádi’s research group in identifying the proteins most suitable for treating experimental spinal cord injuries in rodent models. To deliver the proteins, they began utilizing mRNA-based therapy as early as 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic. Professor Nógrádi, Head of the Department of Anatomy, Histology, and Embryology at the University of Szeged’s Albert Szent-Györgyi Medical School, gave an interview following his presentation at the mRNA conference.

A scientific meeting was organised in memory of Dr. István Karády (1904-1974), Professor of Pathophysiology at the Department of Pathophysiology.

2024. July 10.

At the graduation ceremony of the Albert Szent-Györgyi Medical School on 27 June 2024, András Szabó, sixth-year medical student, did not only receive his diploma from Prof. Dr. György Lázár, Dean of the Medical School, but also received a dean's commendation.

2024. May 16.

The International Student Union of Szeged (ISUS) - the student union of the foreign students of the SZTE Albert Szent-Györgyi Medical School, the Faculty of Pharmacy, and the Faculty of Dentistry - organized the 11th International Cultural Evening. The event, which has become a tradition, took place on April 26 this year in the Pick Arena Ludányi Academic Hall.

2024. May 16.

As students of the Albert Szent-Györgyi Medical School she was given the opportunity to participate in an exchange program with one of the best medical schools in the United States.

2024. March 04.

Following a thorough self-evaluation process covering several areas and an on-site visit by the Accreditation Committee, the Albert Szent-Györgyi Medical School at the University of Szeged has been granted accreditation by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) for eight years, until 15 December 2031.

The University of Szeged has reached a new milestone: a new precision robotic surgical device has been tested at the Department of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Surgery at the Albert Szent-Györgyi Medical School, which could revolutionise the accuracy and safety of knee replacement surgery.
