International FELASA animal experimentation course at the University of Szeged


For the tenth time, University of Szeged hosted the internationally accredited, English-language FELASA (Federation of European Laboratory Animal Science Associations) course titled "Animal experiments theory and practice A and B levels." The valid accreditation of the course was verified by a personal FELASA audit during the current training.
The Institute of Surgical Research organized the course from January 15 to 26, 2024. A majority of the theoretical training took place online, while the practical training was delivered in person. The instructors were members of the Institute of Surgical Research, the Department of Medical Physics and Informatics, the Department of Physiology, the Department of Internal Medicine, the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Neuroscience (Faculty of Science and Informatics), the Department of Oral Biology and Experimental Dental Research (Faculty of Dentistry), the Biological Research Centre and the Radiobiology Research Group at ELI-ALPS.
Participants were from Serbia, Syria, Jordan, research institutes of the University of Szeged and the Biological Research Centre, international (from India, Philippines, Sudan) and hungarian PhD students from the Doctoral Schools of University of Szeged. After successful theoretical and practical examinations, certificates were handed over to 11 participants in the A level, 3 in the B level, and 8 in the A&B level. The FELASA qualification provides participants with a recognized license to carry out experiments and design projects involving the use of laboratory animals in all countries of the world.
