Basic Hungarian Language I

-AOK-P83

This Hungarian course

is for beginners who have had none or very little contact with the language. The aim of the course is to provide basic language skills to help you with very limited vocabulary in everyday communication that may also serve as a good basis for further language in the second semester of your Pre-Med Programme and learning in your graduate years at the University of Szeged. Grammar and vocabulary are selected with a communicative approach and the new grammar structures will be practised mainly in situational exercises. The general pragmatic rules of language use are taken into consideration throughout the course, making students able to communicate in a socially acceptable way even on a basic level. The course includes all four skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening. The working methods applied are group and pair work in the classroom, communicative tasks and dialogues. The course ends with a five-grade practical mark.

The topics of the course

include Greetings in Hungarian, Expressions of everyday life, The Hungarian Alphabet, Pronunciation, Numbers, the articles, Introduce yourself and your friends, Calendar items, Locations and expressions with time and place adverbials, the Academic timetable, Subjects at the university, Present tense of active verbs.

The course material is mainly course-specific material assembled and created by our Department.
