Welcome to Institute of Pathophysiology!

Welcome to the homepage of the Department of Pathophysiology! Our department seeks to engage in the full spectrum of pathophysiology education and research of the highest quality. Pursuit of this mission is characterized by a commitment to integrate the full range of scholarly efforts, that now serve as firm bases in preclinical education in three different branches (Medical, Dental and Pharmacy faculties) of the University of Szeged. The Albert Szent-Györgyi Medical School Department of Pathophysiology has the following objectives:

Prepare and educate both graduate and undergraduate students to acquire clinical knowledge more efficiently in the forthcoming clinical studies.
Pursue basic scientific inquiry into the pathophysiological basis and mechanisms of human disease.
Emphasize the importance of clinical and translational research and facilitate the rapid application of new discoveries, technology and other innovations into the diagnosis and care of patients.

While in education our curriculum cover the full range of significant pathophysiological processes, in research our main foci are Neuroendocrinology Inflammation and Gastroenterology. Our staff, which consists of 23 employees, so far has successfully coped with all these challenges. Our personnel features 10 medical doctors (6 with PhD and 3 with DSc, too), 6 masters (one with PhD) and 8 assistants.
