Scientific Information

In keeping with the tradition of the Society, abstracts have been accepted on a wide range of topics in clinical and experimental surgical research. The best abstracts have been selected by the International Scientific Committee. Forms of presentations: keynote address (30 min), symposia-invited lectures (15 min), oral presentations (8 min), video presentations (10 min) and posters.

The abstracts will be published in a supplement issue of European Surgical Research (Karger, Basel, Switzerland).

The Proceedings will be published on CD and in a volume. They can be ordered directly from the publisher Monduzzi Editore via Ferrarese, 119/2 40128 Bologna Italy - Fax +39 051 370529 - http://www.monduzzi.com.

Awards

Walter Brendel Award - the first session on May 23, 2002 is dedicated posthumously to Professor Walter Brendel, a founder of the Society. The eight papers with the highest scores will be presented during the session, and the best will receive the award.

Young Researchers Award - the award will be given to the first author of the best abstract in the junior participant (< 30 years) category.

Poster Award - the best poster will be awarded during the Congress.

Student Award (Scholarship for Students) - for full-time students, whose abstracts are accepted for oral presentation the registration will be free of charge. Please do not forget to indicate your student status on the Abstract Form and a verification from the head of department is essential.

Awards will be distributed at the Congress Banquet.

The Congress has been awarded 18 CME hours from the Swiss Society of Surgery.

Language

The official language of the Conference is English. No simultaneous translation will be available.

Exhibition

The Conference will be accompanied by a commercial exhibition, located in both venues of the Congress. Companies wishing to exhibit at the Conference, please contact the Organizing Secretariat for further details.
